The most versatile essential oil I use, peppermint should be stocked in everyone's medicine cabinet and first-aid kits because of its immediate cooling, anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects. It helps almost every body system, including the skin.
Powerful Cooling Effect:
- Hot Flash Relief: Apply to skin or take a drop in a glass of water
- Fevers: Many people have found that it can help break a fever. Peppermint works through a centrifugal force to push heat from the inside of the body out to the surface.
- Skin Relief: Cools the skin and feels wonderful on a hot, itchy rash. It sometimes helps intense itching and provides almost immediate relief when applied to hives.
- Breathing Relief: Opens narrowed breathing passages
- Mental Focus and Memory: Inhaled, it improves concentration and memory. Helps students and others to remain focused with a sharp memory

Annoying itchy rash
- Relieves Discomfort: Peppermint oil is high in Menthol, the primary cooling compound that triggers cold-sensitive nerve receptors and stops the creation of swelling molecules. Menthol also blocks calcium channels in nerves, which lowers muscle spasms and decreases pain feelings in the body. Peppermint oil is also high in Menthone, A major cyclic compound that stops the release of proteins that cause swelling. Peppermint oil help reduce inflammation when used topically and can often relieve pain. I've often used it to relieve the pain of a stubbed toe or other injury and felt almost immediate relief.
- Gut Relief: Research shows it can stop colonic spasms
- Promotes Healthy Liver and Gallbladder Function: Encourages healthy bile flow from the liver. Gentle liver cleanser and anti-inflammatory effect on the entire digestive and biliary tracts.
- Ant Repellent: In the kitchen, it can serve as a natural ant repellent
Quality:

Hot Flash / Overheated
- Potency: The essential oil of peppermint is many times stronger than a peppermint tincture - only 1 or 2 drops are needed at a time
- Our Very Unique Peppermint Oil: This peppermint oil comes from the Pacific Northwest directly from the farm where it is grown and distilled. The Pacific Northwest is known for the highest quality peppermint in the country.
- Distillation Process: This oil is steam distilled at low temperature and low pressure to extract many phytoconstituents that would normally not be extracted. The result is a lovely, complex and very rare peppermint oil with many subtle overtones and undertones with additional therapeutic properties that those constituents add to the oil.
- Never Triple-Distilled: It is very common in the industry to triple distill the oil to get a crisper "minty" smell. A lot of this triple distilled oil is sold to the gum and mint industry and smells like a candy cane, but this is not what high quality single distilled therapeutic grade peppermint oil is supposed to smell like. When an essential oil is triple distilled, some therapeutic components can be destroyed. Dr. Fosters Essentials peppermint oil is very unique and rare in that it has been distilled only once - NOT triple distilled. I applied a drop to a rash and felt the cooling sensation for over half an hour!
- Therapeutic Grade: This oil contains the highest grade of essential oil - therapeutic grade
- Clinically-Proven: This wildcrafted therapeutic grade essential oil blend has been clinically proven in Cynthia Foster M.D.'s practice for over 25 yrs.
